Challenge
As part of preparations for a major offshore drilling campaign in West Africa, Deepsea Networks supported the startup of the drillship Valaris DS-10, contracted by SNEPCO for operations on the Bonga field offshore Nigeria.
Before the vessel’s departure to West Africa, ensuring robust onboard communications and a fully operational digital working environment was essential to meet the demanding requirements of the upcoming campaign.
Challenge
When offshore accommodation vessel Nor Spirit prepared for a long-term deployment offshore Angola, ensuring reliable onboard entertainment and crew welfare quickly became a priority.
With more than 500 beds onboard, access to live international television - especially
major football events - plays an important role in maintaining morale and quality of
life during extended offshore rotations.
Deepsea Networks was selected to deliver and install a new TVRO antenna system onboard the vessel before departure.
Deploying a reliable onboard communication system
Deepsea Networks delivered and commissioned a new Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) system based on Motorola Solutions MOTOTRBO UHF technology.
The system was implemented to:
Improve onboard communication between operational teams
Enhance safety through reliable and redundant voice coverage
Support day-to-day operational coordination across the rig
In offshore drilling environments, dependable internal communications are a critical component of both safety management and operational efficiency.

Time was critical.
Thanks to our close partnership with Intellian, Deepsea Networks was able to source
and deliver the antenna system within an extremely short timeframe, ensuring the
vessel remained on schedule for her mobilization to Angola.
This rapid-response capability highlights the importance of combining offshore
operational expertise with trusted technology partnerships.

Strengthening the IT backbone for Offshore operations
In parallel with the radio system deployment, Deepsea Networks also supported the
client’s IT startup activities onboard.
This included:
• Integration support for the fiber optic backbone infrastructure
• Supply of key IT equipment and workplace systems
• Setup of office-like digital environments for offshore personnel
The objective was to ensure that the Valaris DS-10 could operate with a modern,
stable, and efficient digital workspace comparable to onshore office standards, even
in a remote offshore environment.
Strengthening the IT backbone for Offshore operations
In parallel with the radio system deployment, Deepsea Networks also supported the
client’s IT startup activities onboard.
This included:
• Integration support for the fiber optic backbone infrastructure
• Supply of key IT equipment and workplace systems
• Setup of office-like digital environments for offshore personnel
The objective was to ensure that the Valaris DS-10 could operate with a modern,
stable, and efficient digital workspace comparable to onshore office standards, even
